Where to Watch the Solar Eclipse in NYC

The eclipse will take place Monday, and will be visible in New York City starting shortly after 1 p.m. Shutterstock NEW YORK CITY — A solar eclipse — where the moon passes between the earth and the sun — is set to take place Monday afternoon, a celestial show that’ll be visible to all of North America.  Though New York City is outside the “path of totality” where viewers can catch a total eclipse, the city will be able to see the moon cover about 75 percent of the sun, according to the experts at the American Museum of Natural History. The solar event will start at 1:23 p.m. and end at 4 p.m., with peak coverage happening at 2:44 p.m., museum officials say.  ► Related: Where To Watch Monday’s Solar […]

Man fatally stabbed after getting into fight on Brooklyn street

A man was fatally stabbed in the chest in Brooklyn Friday night, cops said. The 42-year-old victim was walking with a woman on Monitor St. near McGolrick Park in Greenpoint when they got into a fight with a group of men, said witness Kelvin Tineo, 26. The brawl turned bloody when the man was knifed at 9:30 p.m., police said. No one has been arrested and the slain man’s name was not released. Montefiore looks to engage West African community in hep-B prevention campaign

When hepatologist Dr. Samuel Sigal joined Montefiore Health System in November 2015, he said he was “overwhelmed” by the number of hepatitis B patients he was seeing from the Bronx’s large West African community. “There’s a big knowledge gap and [there are] a lot of cultural issues,” Sigal said. “There’s a lot of stigma and a lot of people don’t want to talk about it.” Related article Infecting a patient with hep-C to save his life article continues below advertisement To address the problem, Sigal recently launched the Montefiore Starfish Program, a community outreach campaign that’s named after one of his former patients’ favorite parables.
