Mobile art center CARIBBEING HOUSE is in residence at the Brooklyn Museum for the month of August. Stop by our outdoor Biergarten to share your Caribbean heritage story with CUNY’s Dominican Studies Institute, contribute to a collective Caribbean Newsstand with artist Lizania Cruz, and see "Life with Basquiat," and installation of intimate photographs of Brooklyn’s own Jean-Michel Basquiat by Alexis Adler. When Yes Means No: A Roundtable on Consent in Carnival Culture

Twenty year old Brooklynite Tiarah Poyau was killed at J’Ouvert in 2016 after not consenting to grinding with a man. Her death sparked conversation on consent, risk, and sexuality at J’Ouvert and other festivals. This conversation unpacks sexuality and consent in Caribbean festival culture and demystifies misconceptions around cultural traditions.
