Transit advocates fume over ‘Cuomo Tax’ to fund nuke plants – The cash-strapped MTA shouldn’t have to pony up an electric bill surcharge imposed by Gov. Cuomo to support a trio of upstate nuclear plants, transit advocates fumed this week. MTA power bills will be up by about $9 million in 2017, and will increase even more over the lifetime of the 12-year, $7.6 billion plan to support the plants on Lake Ontario, says Stop the Cuomo Tax, a group opposed to the ratepayer bailout. “The MTA can not afford to spend a dollar that is not toward the MTA,” said Jaqi Cohen of the Straphangers Campaign. Funeral home embalmed the wrong body: lawsuit – A Brooklyn funeral home mistakenly retrieved the body of a Pentecostal minister from a hospital morgue — and then embalmed her, in violation of her religious beliefs, the woman’s grieving family says in a new lawsuit. Alan Moskin, the word “Nazi” evokes memories of May 4, 1945, when his company liberated a concentration camp infused with the stench of death. Three days later, Adolf Hitler’s Germany surrendered. Moskin remembers thinking the genocidal architects of the Holocaust were vanquished — for good. More than seven decades later, he watched in disgust as anti-Semitic, alt-right protesters descended on Charlottesville, Va., with an innocent woman killed in the street. “These white supremacists, neo-Nazis, KKK make me sick to my stomach,” said the 91-year-old Jewish veteran of Gen. George Patton’s 3rd Army. Cohn says W.H. must do better, almost quits over Trump Va. reply “In no way do they represent the America I grew up to […]
